The mental health journey of a new first time mum

“It could be the weather”

Whenever the weather changes I feel more irritable and down. I have more of those days where I want to be alone, to have some time to myself. As soon as it gets that little bit colder, my knees start aching. It’s a pain I’m used to but even so, it’s very frustrating. I suppose it is inevitable then that my mental health will be worse.

I love Autumn and Winter, they are my favourite seasons however I can’t always control how I feel during them. There are so many times where even the smallest things can trigger my anxiety or make me feel like I need to step away from a situation. At times, those people or things I usually enjoying being with, or doing, end up being annoying.

Saying that though, the thought of darker nights, winter sunsets, paths covered in orange leaves and of course pumpkin lattes fills me with happiness. If we of course ignore that the dreaded C word is getting closer and closer.

Has anybody else experienced an increase in their depressive periods following weather changes?
