Stylising and Perfecting
For a long time, longer than I probably should have left it, I haven’t really had a “style” to my photos. They just sort of existed.
I’ve flitted between looks and editing styles many times but now I am trying so hard to find something that is suitable and maintainable long term. I’ve spent so long researching different editing styles and tutorials I’ve got to the point where I don’t care. Now I’m just messing about on Lightroom, testing everything. Perhaps this could be a good thing.
Black and white imagery has, as I’ve mentioned before, always ben my favourite. I love the emotion of them. I’d love it if all my pictures could be B&W but I do need to step up my colour game. I need to learn different techniques. If i’m to try and get customers and develop as a photographer, I need to adjust.
I’m currently working on a simple look. An edit that is fairly heavy but looks like nothing has happened, as if it is straight out of the camera. Honestly, something I have never really been able to acheive. Now, I don’t think I’d use this style for everything but it’s always nice to have that simpler, cleaner look.
My photos are never going to be perfect, and to be honest, I’m never going to love them. I know I’m always going to hate most of my work but I need them to be more acceptable to my standards. I need to be better. I need to not care quite as much. I need to just do what I like, after all, it’s my work, my art.
I’m currently working on some photos from my best friend’s wedding on Saturday so now is the opportunity to deveop these new looks. Hopefully I’ll post them soon!
