Taking Life With Some Ups and Downs
1 year has flown by, it’s so strange to imagine life any differently now though. So much has changed for us all and honestly, I don’t know where time has gone, but I know I wouldn’t change anything.

So we’ve got through the first week of 2021. And the first week of the third lockdown…It does really feel like we’re just going round and round in circles. It makes you think, how many times can we do the same thing without someone realising it doesn’t work. Repeating the same mistakes never solves problems. I really do believe we need a total lockdown, close everything that isn’t essential, for a month. I have a feeling I’m not alone in feeling extremely anxious and on edge about the rest of this year. It’s got to get better though, somehow. I…
Took the camera out for a walk for the first time in a long time on Saturday. Whilst I got some nice ones I also noticed, I’ve got a bit of focus issue going on. I think I’ve fixed it with a bit of lens calibration but further testing will soon tell! I really do love the 50mm. Below are the latest pictures from Ness Gardens, however over on THIS PAGE is the whole collection I’ve taken on other visits. Since my birthday I’ve been a member of the gardens so hopefully I can get some different shots with practice…
A little late but happy new year to anybody who reads this. 2020. Time seems to move far too quickly. As I’m writing this we’re already 8 days in. I’m going to try my best this year to make a real effort to post on the blog page and definitely update the galleries. I don’t really do resolutions but I aim to make some changes. I need to make photography more central in my life. I said to myself that I would be using social media more frequently, and more efficiently. I think I’ve settled more on Twitter and Instagram…
I’m back from our trip to Orlando. We arrived back mid November so since then I’ve been working and attempting to edit the few photos I took on my camera. By few I obviously mean over 200… I seriously over estimated the need for a DSLR though. I took both the Canon and the Sony, I didn’t even put the battery into the Sony, it remained in the safe for the duration of the holiday. The vast majority of the (literally) 1000s of photos where taken using my now old phone. Who knew. The ones below are from Hollywood Studios…
I’ve recently got a new camera! I’ve finally moved up, I’m now working with a Canon 80D. I decided against a full frame just yet, I don’t think I need one…as much as I’d like one just yet anyway. The past couple of months I’ve developed a huge backlog of photos again for a number of reasons but mainly because I hate how I’ve been editing them again. I’ve sort of worked out a style I like and now is coming down to fine tuning it. I’m going to attach a number of galleries to this post and an actual…
I went to Bodnant Gardens in Conwy a little while ago now, but only just got around to editing the pictures I’ve taken. I’ve used a slightly different editing style on all of these shots and actually feel like I’ve got somewhere. Obviously they need a bit of tweaking here and there but for now, they’ll do. This is going to be a short and sweet post with a boat load of pictures attached… View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize View fullsize…
Picking my favourites was not easy, however, I have just about managed it.
I was aiming for 12, one from each month but that didn’t happen, some months where more productive than others so here we go a thousand and one pictures!
I’ve been very quiet on here the past few weeks. I’m most definitely feeling better since my last post. A little break away in Oban helped, I was able to relax a bit and concentrate on producing some better quality pictures. Some of which I really love.
I’ve been playing with my 50mm lens recently. I’d forgotten all about it and never really found any use for it. That was until I did a bit of reading. I’ve decided to take it with me when we do the Wirral Coastal Walk next month as it is so light and easy to use.
We went for a walk around Shotwick last week as the first practice run. I’ve never really done a post like this one so warning; lots of photos ahead!
