That Time Of Year Again

So it’s that time of year again when I lose all motivation and feel generally down. It must be February!

Life

It’s always the worst month for me, for obvious reasons. The 21st marks the 19th anniversary of Mum passing away, something that always plays on my mind heavily but more so around this time of year. It’s become the normality for my brain to kind of switch off through February, something I have tried to control but at this point. It’s part of me. Something I have come to accept…I'm just not happy throughout this month, simple as that really.

I guess the main difference this year is being stuck in a lockdown, or at least an attempt at a lockdown, I am restricted to what I can do to make myself get out of the slump. Ideally I’d take the camera out and go for a walk, or meet up with family. All things I can’t really do! With being in this sort of miserable, down, slump, I’ve managed to get really far behind posting the Project365 photos on here too, so that’s good…I may or may not catch up at some point soon. Considering there isn’t anything interesting happening it may be best not to bother, it’s mostly the same type of photo anyway! They’re still being posted regularly on Instagram for those interested.

Gaming

I have found I could concentrate long enough to finally finish the story of Borderlands 3, only taken over a year! Just all the DLC to do now, but it turned out to be quite good! Nowhere near 2, or the pre-sequel but still good. Not sure what is what about Borderlands that got me out of this round of gaming lethargy, glad it did though. I’m also doing a slow playthrough of Assassins Creed: Valhalla. Which as it turns out, is considerably different to past AC games, and definitely more enjoyable, at least for me. As always though, I keep going back to Elder Scrolls Online. I found out the other day I have over 1600 hours on that game. Genuinely not sure if I’m impressed, or embarrassed, or if I actually don’t care. I don’t know what it is but I keep going back to ESO. I don’t actually know any friends that play on PC so if you do, please let me know!

Social Media

It seems to be around about now I always start thinking about better ways to use social media, and then I always get stumped. I really really don’t like Facebook, but everything I read tells me it’s the best for traffic (not that that seems to work for me, probably because I haven’t a clue about techniques/willing to pay huge amounts for adverts). I’ve always preferred Twitter over all the sites, but again, no idea really how to utilise it for marketing purposes. Then there is Instagram, which I’m also not a huge fan of. There is too much algorithm to try and understand and I’m pretty sure I’ve been shadowbanned numerous times for no real reason. Extremely annoying.

What sites does everyone else use? How do you get more traffic/more interaction? It confuses me, but also disheartens me. It sometimes feels like nobody is listening. Maybe that’s a good thing…

This week

So this week, I’m going to have more of an investigation into SM, marketing methods, trying to work out a way to calm my brain down a bit and work out how I want to carry on with the blog. I have said plenty of times I want to do a more regular posting but then never do. I need motivation. Lots of it.

For now though, I’m going back on ESO.
